Water Polo Coach
We are looking to add to our pool of contract water polo coaches this year. The level of coaching and rate of pay will be based upon your experience and qualifications.

Reports to: Head Coach / Program Director
Job Summary:
We are seeking passionate and energetic Water Polo Coaches who would like to join our coaching team. The ideal candidates will have a strong interest in water polo and a desire to work with young children and/or adults ranging from teaching the fundamentals of water polo in our Splashball group through to those wanting to develop their water polo coaching with our senior youth and adult groups.
Key Responsibilities:
- Instruct water polo sessions: Lead and assist in organizing and conducting water polo sessions for youth and/or adult groups, focusing on water polo skills, drills, fitness and team-building exercises.
- Skill Development: Teach fundamental and/or advanced water polo skills ranging from passing, shooting, and treading water through to game play and progressive drills.
- Safety and Supervision: Ensure the safety of all participants at all times, maintaining a positive and supportive environment. Supervise athletes in and around the pool area to prevent accidents and respond to emergencies if necessary.
- Encourage Participation: Motivate and encourage all participants to engage in activities, fostering a love for water polo and physical activity.
- Communication: Communicate effectively with athletes, parents and guardians, providing updates on their athlete's progress and any important information related to the program.
- Equipment Management: Set up and pack away equipment before and after sessions, ensuring all gear is in good condition.
- Administrative Support: Assist with registration, attendance tracking, and other administrative tasks as needed.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with the Head Coach and other staff members to ensure the smooth running of the program.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Previous experience in water sports or working with children and adults is preferred but not required.
- Skills: Strong swimming skills and a basic understanding of water polo. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially with young children.
- Required Certifications (or working towards with agreed completion date): Community Coaching, Community Referee, NCCP Safe Sport, Rule of Two, and Making Headway (Concussion training)
- Optional Certifications: CPR and First Aid certification, Swim Instructor Qualification and National Lifeguard certification
- Personality: Energetic, patient, and enthusiastic about working with children. Ability to create a fun and positive learning environment.
- Availability: Must be available to work assigned water polo practices.
- Training: On-the-job training provided, with opportunities for further development in coaching and water sports.
- Experience: Gain valuable experience working in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.
- Community Impact: Make a positive impact on the community by introducing youth and adults to the sport of water polo.

Junior Water Polo Coach Development Program
For our registered athletes or those with previous water polo experience we are always looking for volunteers who would like to develop their skills in coaching on poolside.
This year we are inviting any athletes who would like to join the junior coach development program as a volunteer to get in touch. We will be organising mentoring opportunities on poolside as well as inviting volunteer junior coaches to take part in coach training when it is offered.
Also, junior coach isn't age defined. If you are an adult player who would like to take this opportunity then you are welcome to apply too.
